5 Anti-Ageing Makeup Tips!

If you've got ageing concerns, makeup can be your best friend - it can also be your worst enemy. Here’s how to master the techniques, textures and colours to keep you looking youthful and fresh.

LIGHTWEIGHT BASE
As we age our skin is prone to discolouration and dullness, so look for a foundation that illuminates as well as offering coverage. Avoid heavy consistency foundations that can cake in fine lines ageing you further. Instead, blend a lightweight foundation or CC cream (like Giordani Gold CC Cream evenly into your face and neck. Apply a lightweight concealer to shadow prone areas, like around your nostrils and under your eyes.

YOUTHFUL BLUSH
Blusher can knock off the years in an instant. Massage a creamy blush into the highest point of your cheekbones to create the illusion of structure. A luminous blush will bounce light off your face softening the appearance of fine lines and adding a rosy flush.

DEFINED EYES
Eyelids tend to sag with age, but clever contouring can disguise a lack of definition. Work a soft, matte shadow into your socket line to add depth. But avoid pale and glittery products that can settle into fine lines and dull your complexion.

Curling your eyelashes will lift sagging eyes, while a volumising mascara will thicken lashes that have grown sparse with age.

FULLER BROWS
Brows lift and define a face. If your eyebrows are thin, use an eyebrow kit to fill in any gaps and add structure with an eyebrow gel. Select an eyebrow pencil in a natural colour – like blond or brown – and draw feathered lines to fake fuller brows.

PLUMP LIPS
With age, lips become thinner. Avoid lip liner and matte textured lipstick, which shrink lips further. Instead, apply a dab of gloss to the centre of your lower lip to fake a well-hydrated, plump pout.

Mid-tone coral and red lipsticks look good on most skin tones regardless of age, but steer clear of very pale pinks, dark aubergine and brown tones that flatten the mouth and pile on the years.
