Step-By-Step: Contouring

One of the biggest trends in makeup right now is contouring: the art of sculpting your face by using a highlighting and shading technique. Learn how to define and enhance your bone structure in four simple steps.

BRUSHES YOU NEED

Concealer/Lip Brush
Foundation Brush
Powder Brush
Fan Powder Brush

HIGHLIGHT

Highlight with a liquid foundation that’s one shade lighter than your natural skin colour.  The light colour will hide dark circles and subtly lift parts of your face. Use a foundation or concealer brush, to apply foundation to your cheekbones, the bridge of your nose, chin, and brow bones.

2

CONTOUR

Shade with a darker foundation that is two to three shades darker than your skin tone. Apply it to the side of your nose, along the sides of your forehead and beneath your cheekbones.

3

BLEND

Blend the light and dark foundation colours using a foundation brush. Ensure you blend well, to create natural looking makeup rather than harsh lines.

4

MATTIFY AND HIGHLIGHT

Now sweep some compact powder over your makeup to mattify and set. Finally, use a fan brush to dust some bronzer over the contoured areas to add extra glow.
