STICK TO YOUR ROUTINE
When the holidays come around we often slack on our routines, but if we want to keep our skin looking it’s best, it’s essential that we stick to our skin care routines! Your routine removes dirt, debris, excess oil and keeps your skin moisturised. During the holiday season, we often wear more make-up to make us look extra festive, so it’s even more important to stay consistent with our routines and remove our make-up before going to bed.
DRINK WATER
The holidays are a time for family gatherings and festivities, but in all the merriment, it’s easy to overindulge in all the delicious food and drink. Alcohol can make your skin look dull and dehydrated, and that is not something we want to deal with when getting glammed up for the next party. To keep your skin fresh and healthy-looking, drink a lot of water before any event where you know you’ll drink alcohol, and always drink a glass of water in between alcoholic drinks.
DE-STRESS
We all know, family gatherings can get a little stressful, and stress quickly shows in our skin. Get extra zen and handle family disagreements like a pro by taking time to de-stress beforehand. Make a cup of tea, apply a soothing skin-treatment, read your favourite book. Whatever it takes to make you relax and feel taken care of!
HEALTHY FOODS
Holiday season is a time to indulge but try to get some healthy foods in there too! Make sure your skin gets the vitamins and minerals it needs to stay healthy by prepping a colourful salad to go with all the rich foods and sugary treats. Colourful veggies contain a lot of antioxidants which help combat oxidative stress and nourish your skin.
GET SOME BEAUTY SLEEP!
With all the late nights, parties and family fun, we often get too little sleep. Lack of sleep and the stress that comes with the holiday season can leave you with dark under-eye circles and a greyish complexion. But it’s not called beauty sleep for nothing, so try to get at least 6-8 hours a night! Some research shows that cell regeneration, which is important for rejuvenation of the skin, increases during sleep. This suggests that you are more likely to wake up with fresh, glowy skin if you’ve had a good night’s rest.
