Step by Step: The Braided Chignon

Plaits have been weaving themselves into various guises: fishtails, waterfalls, corn rows – the list goes on. But, with invitation season in full swing we are favouring an elegant chignon – updated with braiding, of course.

1
PART

Start by creating a centre parting. Now, take the
hair that frames your face and divide into two
sections, you will work with these later. Gently
tease the rest of your hair to add texture and volume.

2

PONYTAILS

Create two pigtails at the nape of your neck.
Loosely plait them and secure with transparent
hairbands.

3

FRENCH PLAITS

Now it's time for your French plaits. Take
the hair that you sectioned off earlier and
create a tight French plait, guiding it towards
the back of your head. Secure with a hair band. Now do the same one the other side
of your parting.

JOIN AND SHAPE

You should now have four plaits at the back of your head. Weave and wrap these around
one another to create a relaxed chignon that sits at the nape of your neck. Secure with hairgrips.

5

PULL

Style your chignon by loosening the plaits
and shaping, finishing off with hairspray for hold.
