Why Everyone’s Talking About Hair Oils

Putting natural oils in your hair may seem counterintuitive; after all we wash our hair to get rid of oil and greasiness. But rather than leaving your hair limp, hair oils rescue damaged hair and give it a soft and smooth finish – here’s what you need to know.

HAIR HEALTH
Hair oils offer a multitude of benefits.  Rather than merely coating the hair (like some products do), oils penetrate the hair to nourish and condition it. Oils, like Argan, are packed with essential fatty acids that replace the lipids in your hair when it starts to split and dry out. The result? Super-glossy, supple hair. They’re also sealants, which means they seal the cuticle and lock in moisture to tame frizz. And because they’re a lubricant, they are great for detangling wet hair, so you don’t have to worry about breakage.

EASY TO APPLY
Hair oils are incredibly easy to apply. If your hair needs an intense dose of T.L.C then apply to wet hair, but otherwise apply to dry hair. Rub a coin sized dollop into your hands and then rake evenly through large sections of hair, smoothing over the surface. But always avoid your scalp, as it generally produces enough natural oil on its own.

THERE’S AN OIL FOR EVERYTHING
There is a natural oil for all of your hair care concerns, but we have a few favorites. Argan oil is often referred to as “liquid gold” because of its multi-tasking capabilities. It’s packed with Vitamin E, anti-oxidants and essential fatty acids making it one of nature’s most effective moisturisers. It improves hair’s elasticity, reduces frizziness, repairs damage and adds luster to dull hair. It’s even said to aid hair growth!

Rose oil is also great for hydrating and strengthening dry and brittle hair. Try a product that blends Rose and Argan oils (like the Eleo range) for a luxurious and intensive treatment.

If you suffer from a dry scalp, Tea Tree oil will sooth irritated skin and remedy dandruff. While Coconut Oil is a fantastic natural antibacterial for your hair: it moisturizes, penetrates hair and smells like a summer holiday!
