Table Mountain
Table Mountain is South Africa’s most iconic landmark, one of the world’s 7 natural wonders and home to the Cape Floral Kingdom, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Table Mountain was given its name — Taboa do Cabo (Table of the Cape) — by the first European to climb the mountain in 1503, explorer Antonio de Saldahna. Take a cable car lift or if you are up for it, hike to the top and enjoy breathtaking views of Cape Town. The flat-topped Table Mountain is also one of the most photographed places in South Africa so it’s the perfect place to up your Instagram game!
For an unparalleled view of the mountain, take a hike to Lion’s Head, an iconic peak situated in the Table Mountain Natural Park, and visible from any point in Cape Town (it stretches 2000 feet above sea level).
