Heather has been historically used in Swedish traditional medicine to help calm and soothe the skin. Known to contain ursolic acid, it has the ability to help calm and comfort while flavonols have reported antioxidant and soothing qualities. 
 
Sweet Chestnut contains antioxidants that help to protect against free radical damage, plus minerals and vitamins to help nourish the skin. 
 
Vitamin B3 helps to improve the skin barrier, moisturise and nourish the skin. 
 
Anti-Pollution Active Helps to protect the skin against ageing environmental aggressors such as pollution by shielding physically, like a second skin.

Capable of surviving even the harshest Arctic conditions, heather has long been valued for its healing properties. Heather’s clusters of mauve-coloured flowers bloom in the late summer months and are still enjoyed as a tea in  Sweden today. The resilient shrub is known for its rich profile of nourishing compounds, including flavanols, catechins, phenolic acids, phenols and triterpenes, all of which can give it skin-conditioning properties.

In beauty products, the chestnut’s flavonoid and tannin content also lend it toning and astringent properties, helping skin to feel fresh and toned.
