Heather has been historically used in Swedish traditional medicine to help calm and soothe the skin. Known to contain ursolic acid, it has the ability to help calm and comfort while flavonols have reported antioxidant and soothing qualities. 
 
Sweet Chestnut contains antioxidants that help to protect against free radical damage, plus minerals and vitamins to help nourish the skin. 
 
Vitamin E helps maintain water balance, improve skin comfort, strengthen the skin and combat free radical damage.

Capable of surviving even the harshest Arctic conditions, heather has long been valued for its healing properties. Heather’s clusters of mauve-coloured flowers bloom in the late summer months and are still enjoyed as a tea in  Sweden today. The resilient shrub is known for its rich profile of nourishing compounds, including flavanols, catechins, phenolic acids, phenols and triterpenes, all of which can give it skin-conditioning properties.

Sweet chestnuts come from the widely cultivated Castanea sativa tree and are often enjoyed as a simple snack, roasted whole. Rich in vitamins and minerals, the sweet tasting nut contains a number of compounds with antioxidant properties that help to provide skin-protecting benefits. In beauty products, the chestnut’s flavonoid and tannin content also lend it toning and astringent properties, helping skin to feel fresh and toned.
